situated in special nodes alongside the Niagara River. Maintained
by the Niagara Parks Commission, sculptures, fountains and
ornamental objects punctuate the beautifully manicured grounds
of the Niagara parks.
From the Rainbow Gardens, created near
the foot of Clifton Hill in the early 1940’s by celebrated
Canadian sculptor Elizabeth Wyn Wood, to the collection of
contemporary sculptures and fountains to be found at the Niagara
Parks Greenhouse and the Butterfly Conservatory, there are
wonderful works to enjoy throughout the Niagara Falls area.
A visit to the Botanical Gardens & School of Horticulture
reveals a number of urns and planters located throughout and
filled with seasonal offerings.
A focal point at the Herb Garden is a beautiful solid brass
sundial with the inscription, "Make Time, Save Time,
While Time Lasts. All Time Is No Time, When Time Is Past".
The Westonbirt Urns from Haddonstone feature a spiraling gadrooning
and egg and dart trim, making both a stunning work of art
and a functional display of herbs. The art gardens of Niagara
Falls are a delight to all the senses, for not only are there
many man-made wonders to marvel at, the natural beauty, sights
and scents of the ever-changing flora and fauna add to the
spectacular experience.
